The Crucible revival came out the next year. After starring in the action-thriller Spartan (2004) and Gracie's Choice (2004), she received praise for her performance in Gracie's Choice (2004). Then, she made her stage debut on Broadway as Becky Thatcher in comedy musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In the following year she was cast as a character in the television show for teenagers, Veronica Mars (2004). Her performance received critical acclaim as well as a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actress on television. In the 2014 film she reprised her character in the role of the main character in the reboot of the series in 2019, she reprised her role. Bell starred in the musical Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical (2005) as Mary Lane. This was a reprised role from her New York musical. Bell played a part in Heroes, the superhero drama as Elle Bishop, from 2007 to the year 2008. Bell played Narrator of the title for the teen drama series Gossip Girl. The 2021 sequel will see her reprise this role. Bell was also Showtime comedy House of Lies' lead actress, Jeannie van de Hooven. Bell was the main character in the role of Eleanor Shellstrop on the critically popular NBC comedy show The Good Place, receiving an Golden Globe Award nomination for her role. Bell was also the main character in the streaming series The Woman in the house Just across the street from The Girl in the Window.
